My name is Sarah, I started working  in  the Home Care and Reablement service after having my 4th child, I had worked in our local convenience store for the last 10 years and was looking for a change.

I had worked in a residential home many years ago and when I heard there was a job going with our local home care department, I thought I would give this a try.

It has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

The friends I’ve made within the service and the satisfaction of being able to support people to enable them to continue living in their own homes makes every day worth going to work.

Many of the clients I now visit in their homes are people that I use to serve in the shop, been able to help them stay in their homes is a great feeling knowing that I’m helping them keep their independence as much as possible but giving care and help where needed this can be assisting to get them out of bed personal care, getting dressed and getting prepared for the day.

It does get emotional at times when you see a client becoming unwell or deteriorate but we are there to support the clients and their families.
