Update on Payments to the Comhairle

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is continuing to receive payments from customers following last week’s cyber incident.

While payments are being received some payment methods and financial services remain unavailable. Please see below specific updates on direct debits, secure online payments, bank transfers and payments to suppliers.

Direct Debits

Council Tax/Non-Domestic Rates

The Comhairle will continue to collect Direct Debits on the normal pay dates, where payments have been collected previously. New payments will NOT be collected. If you have set up a Direct Debit but have not had your first payment collected, then please pay by another method in the meantime.

If you have recently vacated a property and pay by Direct Debit, in order to prevent an overpayment, please cancel your Direct Debit directly with your bank. Any residual balances due to or from the Comhairle will be addressed once this is possible.

We cannot accept any new applications to pay by Direct Debit at this time.

Other Comhairle Payments by Direct Debit

We are currently unable to take Direct Debits for other council services, such as waste, rents, Faire, and care charges, which would normally be collected on the 15th of the month.

Other Payment Methods

Online Payments

Anyone wishing to make a payment other than by Direct Debit can do so at the Comhairle’s payment website. Payments on this site are secure.

Other Available Payment Methods

By phone on 0300 323 0090

BACS transfer using the bank account details on the back of your bill.

Please note that you will need the account reference or invoice number on your most recent bill.  For Council Tax this is 9 digits starting with 500 eg. 500123456. For Non-Domestic Rates this is 9 digits starting with 430 eg. 430123456. For other invoices this normally starts with P followed by 6 digits eg P123456.

If you have any questions regarding this, then please email us at the relevant address:

Payments to Suppliers

Normal payment channels are currently not available. However, we can still make urgent payments and are setting up an alternative process for the payment of supplier invoices. If you have any concerns, please email us at: creditors@cne-siar.gov.uk
