We asked the public, Community Councils and Elected Members for comments on proposed amendments to the Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils, a revised Model Constitution, Community Council Standing Orders and a voluntary Code of Conduct.
You Said
During the consultation period which ran from 18 May 2023 – 21 August 2023, the Comhairle received two comments which sought clarification on membership and timing of meetings. These queries were answered.
We Did
The revised Scheme and associated Governance Documents were approved by the Comhairle on 27 September 2023. The revised Scheme and Governance Documents will be introduced for the new term of Community Councils which will run from October 2023 – October 2027.

Why we are consulting
Access to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s IT system, including its website, have been affected by a Criminal Cyber Incident on 7 November and the full consultation details previously published cannot be accessed. Therefore, the outcome of the consultation is published on the interim website to inform the public of the outcome of the consultation.
