Stornoway Community Council Election

Notice of Election

  1. An election is to be held for the return of Community Councillors for Stornoway Community Council.
  2. To be eligible for election to the Community Council you must be 16 or over and resident in and registered as a local government elector in the Community Council area to which election is being sought. 
  3. Nomination papers may be obtained from the following address and must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the address from which the papers were received not later than 4.00pm on Tuesday 21 May 2024.  Completed forms may also be returned by email to elections@cne-siar.gov.uk
    Council Offices, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2BW
  4. Nomination papers are also available on the Comhairle’s website   
  5. Withdrawal of persons nominated must be intimated at the address to which the nomination papers were received not later than 4.00pm on Thursday 23 May 2024.
  6. To be established a Community Council requires a minimum of six validly nominated candidates. If more than twelve valid nominations are received an election shall be held.
  7. Election to the Community Council shall be conducted by postal ballot.
