Requests for Housing Adaptations

If you require a medical adaptation(s) to be carried out to your home this may be made in a number of ways.  Enquiries can be made by:

• the person requesting adaptations to their home or a member of their family;
• healthcare professionals (including GPs and hospital staff);
• the Department of Health and Social Care or home carer;

and can be made:

• direct to the Department of Occupational Therapy (01851 822847) for Lewis and Harris) or (01870 604984 x 853 for Uist and Barra);
• through Tighean Innse Gall – Care and Repair (01851 706121 for Lewis and Harris) or (01878 710200 for Uist and Barra);
• through the Comhairle (01851 600501 or email housing@cne-siar.gov.uk for Lewis and Harris) or (01870 604990 for Uist and Barra);

Therefore there are a number of possible routes for an enquiry to be received for adaptations but in all cases they must ultimately be directed to the Department of Occupational Therapy for an assessment of need to be carried out.
