Enrolment into Primary and Secondary School
Parents and carers can use the Comhairle’s online form to enrol children into any of our primary and secondary schools. It is necessary to complete a separate form for each child that is to be enrolled.
Important Enrolment Information
- You will need to provide an electronic copy/scan/photo of your child’s birth certificate to complete the enrolment process. Please ensure that you have this available prior to completing the enrolment form.
- The default enrolment for all children is into Gaelic Medium Education (GME). If you do not wish to enrol your child into GME, you must ensure that you request English Medium Education on the enrolment form.
Additional Information
First Entry into P1 and S1
A formal enrolment window is advertised for February of each year for parents wishing to enrol their children for first entry into P1 and S1. Any parents intending to enrol their children for the first time in P1 and S1 should wait for the opening of the formal enrolment window to be advertised and then use the above form to complete the enrolment before the stated deadline.
For children attaining the age of four by 28th February 2025, enrolment for P1 starting in August 2025 will open on Monday 27th January 2025 and close on Monday 21 February 2025. Please do not enrol new-start P1 children before 27th January.
Enrolment for S1 for August 2025 will open for the same dates as intimated above for P1.
Deferred Entry to P1
Since 2023, parents of children that are eligible to enrol in P1 but will not yet have turned five-years-old by the start of P1 in August can request to defer entry to school. Early Learning and Childcare Enrolment
Enrolment opens annually at the same time as for P1 for children due to start Early Learning and Childcare Centres for the autumn, spring and summer intakes. Parents wishing to find out more about ELC enrolment should visit our Early Learning and Childcare Enrolment webpage. Please note that online enrolment is not available for ELCs at the present time and information is included on the page about how parents can enrol their children for this service.
