The 80th anniversary of D-Day will be marked with the laying of wreaths at Perceval Square Car Park, Stornoway at 11am on Thursday 6 June
The event in Stornoway will coincide with “D-Day 80” commemorations across the country. Further information and a breakdown of national events is available on the D-Day 80 website.
Cllr Kenny Macleod, Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Iain Macaulay, Lord Lieutenant of the Western Isles and armed forces representatives will be in attendance.
Cllr Kenny Macleod said:
“It is important that we mark such anniversaries and take the time to remember the events of D-Day. I would encourage members of the public to attend the commemoration and pay their respects to those that made the ultimate sacrifice 80 years ago.”
