Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday each June, this year falling on 29 June. It is a chance to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.
Speaking at the event Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Cllr Kenny Macleod, said:
“Armed Forces Day gives us all an opportunity to recognise the work of current and former members of the armed forces. I would particularly like to take this moment to recognise the massive contribution that has been made and continues to be made by the Western Isles to this nation’s armed forces. Those currently serving, veterans, cadets, reserves, and family members all play an important role in protecting the freedoms that we enjoy each day.
