Armed Forces Day

The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at an event in Perceval Square, Stornoway at 10am on Monday 24 June. The flag lowering ceremony will take place at 6pm on Monday 15 July.

Armed Forces Day takes place on the last Saturday each June, falling this year on 29 June. It is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community.

At the flag raising ceremony Cllr Kenny Macleod, Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar will deliver an address with Iain Macaulay, Lord Lieutenant of the Western Isles and armed forces representatives in attendance.

Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Cllr Kenneth Macleod, said:

“Armed Forces Day gives us an opportunity to recognise the service of current and past members of the armed forces. I would like to thank all involved in organising this event and encourage public attendance.”
