UK Parliamentary Election
for the Na h-Eileanan an Iar Constituency
- An Election is to be held of a Member of Parliament to serve the Na h-Eileanan an Iar Constituency.
- Nomination forms can be obtained from the Election Office at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Sandwick Road, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2BW. The office is open for the issue and delivery of nomination papers on weekdays from Monday 3 June 2024 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Electronic copies of the forms are available on the Comhairle Elections and Voting webpage.
- Nominations papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the above address on any day after the date of this notice, Monday to Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4:00pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
- The £500 deposit can be paid by; (a) legal tender, (b) by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as banker in the United Kingdom, or (c) by a debit or credit card or the electronic transfer of funds.
- If the election is contested, the poll will take place between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm on Thursday 4 July 2024.
- Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at 42-46 Point Street, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, HS1 2FX by midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications can be made online at Register to Vote.
- New applications to vote by post, and amendments or cancellations of existing postal votes or proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online at Postal Vote Application.
- Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online at Register to vote.
- New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Some applications can be made online at Proxy Vote Application.
- Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5:00pm on Thursday 4 July 2024.
