Charge Posts

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar offer charging facilities to all electric vehicle users in the Western Isles.  To use charge posts owned by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, users must first be a member of ChargePlace Scotland. The charge card issued to users upon joining is subsequently used to gain access to the charge posts.

Types of Charger

There are two different types of charger available for use across the Western isles.

Journey Charger

• 43kW AC & 50kW DC/CHAdeMO connection
• Delivers 80% charge in less than 30 minutes
• 59p per kWh
• £1.00 minimum charge

Overstay fee of £1 per minute is applied after 1 hour 30 minutes (+15minutes grace period) up to a maximum of £30.

Destination Charger

• 7kW – 22kW AC connection
• Delivers a full charge in 3-8 hours
• 45p per kWh
• £1 minimum charg
