Taigh a’Chridhe Uile Naomh, also referred to as Sacred Heart House is a purpose built Care Home based in Daliburgh in South Uist. It opened in July 2007 and provides care and support to 18 older people with a range of health conditions including dementia, physical disabilities and/or sensory needs. It is also able to offer one of the rooms for respite/short breaks .
The care home has 18 spacious ensuite rooms across three wings. One of the wings, Mo Dhachaigh with eight bedrooms also has a small open plan kitchen/living room area which enables residents to be supported to make tea/light snacks. There is a larger lounge and dining area for communal activities. A recent development has been MacCallum’s snack bar located in the dining room which enables residents and relatives the option to enjoy a cup of coffee away from the residents room or other communal sitting areas.
There are external safe spaces in the courtyard and garden area and several of the bedrooms have their own patio area accessible direct to outside from the resident’s room.
There are well established links with health and social care professionals who staff liaise with to ensure residents needs are met appropriately and timeously. Also a quarterly newsletter and residents/relatives and representatives’ meetings have been established to maintain contact and engagement with everyone linked to the care home.
The Care Home is non-denominational, and resident’s religious and spiritual needs are respected.
