In 2023-24 it was agreed that Slàinte Mhath prices would rise over a 2-year period. The first price increase took effect from 1 April 2024 and the Comhairle is now implementing the second phase of these agreed increases. The Slàinte Mhath scheme remains the cheapest membership of its kind in Scotland.

From 1st April 2025, Direct Debit mandates will automatically rise to the following prices:

  • Family Membership - £30 per month (£2.50 increase)
  • Individual Membership - £22.50 per month (£2 increase)
  • Family Concession Membership - £22.50 per month (£2 increase)
  • Individual Concession Membership - £18 per month (£1.50 increase)

All current Slàinte Mhath Members have been contacted regarding the price increase. Slàinte Mhath not only gives you full access to facilities and classes across six Western Isles sites but also provides access to a wide-range of mainland leisure facilities across Scotland at no extra charge, through the LeisureLink scheme. Slàinte Mhath members also benefit from a 50% discount on Motiv8 holiday activities, after-school clubs and our swimming lessons.

In line with Comhairle policy, pay as you go prices will increase by 5% from 1 April 2025; including our Motiv8 holiday and after-school activities. Swimming lessons will also be subject to a price rise.

A full list of our updated prices is available on the Pay as you go prices (April 2025) webpage.

Speaking on the price increase a Comhairle Spokesperson said:

“With funding reductions and rising operating costs price increases are necessary to protect and maintain the Sport and Leisure services we offer across our Islands, ensuring that our communities can continue to enjoy the benefits of sport and leisure across our islands in the future. Price rises are never welcome and any decision to increase charges for the public is never taken lightly. Despite the increase these prices still offer exceptional value for money and it is positive that Slàinte Mhath remains the cheapest membership of its kind across Scotland.

“We would like to thank the public for their ongoing support and welcome any queries or feedback from customers across the Western Isles, which can be directed to ISLadminteam@cne-siar.gov.uk
