Following a recent incident, the Cleansing Section would like to highlight the dangers of Bungee Cord ties being used on bins. The hooks on the end of these ties can catch on operatives clothing and due to the strength of the Bungee Cord they have the potential to attach staff to the bin placing them in danger.
The Cleansing Section would also like to highlight the dangers of Rope being left attached to bins. Rope can become entangled on the operative posing a risk when emptying bins into the back of a lorry.
The public are asked to remove bungee cords and rope from bins before presenting them for collection. Bins with bungee cord or rope attached when presented for collection will not be emptied.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank householders for their co-operation in this matter.
