Shannon Donoghue, from the Scottish Youth Parliament, met with LYC members and, later in the day, with local youth workers to share information about the Scottish Youth Parliament’s Mind Yer Time resource.
Designed by children and young people from the Children’s Parliament and the Scottish Youth Parliament, Mind Yer Time aims to support everyone who loves social media and screen time. With positive tips, stories, and helpful information for children and young people, the resource encourages users to make the most of their screen time in a positive way.
The Lewis Youth Council also marked Seachdain na Gàidhlig by encouraging everyone to listen to the views of young people. Shannon can be seen with the Youth Council’s challenge to all.
On Thursday, February 27th, Shannon spent the day consulting pupils at the Nicolson Institute on behalf of the Scottish Government and Learning For Sustainability Youth Leadership Team, about their understanding and experiences of Learning for Sustainability. Topics discussed included outdoor learning, fast fashion, and school and youth residential opportunities.
Shannon Donoghue said,
“It has been great to spend time with young people in Lewis at the Nicolson Institute and at the Lewis Youth Council. Hearing about the experiences and views of young people is vital to the Scottish Government’s research into Learning for Sustainability.”
Special thanks to the Nicolson Institute staff for accommodating the research workshops and to the pupils for their full engagement.
