In February 2025 Comhairle nan Eilean Siar agreed a figure of £94,236 for each Ward’s Coastal Community Fund.

Cllr Paul Steele, Leader of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, said: 

“The allocation of this funding from the Crown Estate revenues will ensure communities can shape local priorities and develop projects that are important to them. The awards seek to prioritise projects that develop community infrastructure and align themselves with the Comhairle’s Economic Strategy.

“Community groups can apply to the Coastal Community Fund in their Ward area. Engagement throughout the process will be required by Ward area forums or their equivalents alongside the Ward Councillors to identify local needs and aspirations. Ultimately, local people will decide on their own area’s priorities.”
