Vote at the polling station
You can vote in person at your polling station. Prior to polling day, you will receive a poll card which will contain your own unique electoral register reference number and tell you where you should go to vote. Poll cards are sent to electors for information purposes, and you do not need to take it with you to the polling station in order to vote. If you do not receive a poll card before an election or referendum and are registered and eligible, please contact the election office.
There is a new rule that requires voters to show photo ID when they vote at polling stations. This only applies to UK General Elections. You will not need photo ID for Scottish Parliament elections or local council elections. You can see the full list of accepted forms of photo ID on the Electoral Commission's website.
Voting at a polling station is very straightforward and there is always a member of staff available to help. For more information on voting in person visit The Electoral Commission's website.
