Housing Need Surveys

The Comhairle’s Housing Services Team is preparing a Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA), which will feed into the Local Housing Strategy 2023-2028 and the next iteration of the Local Development Plan.

This exercise must be carried out every five years and it will allow us to consider the number of homes we are likely to need, based on what our population looks like at the moment, and what it might look like in the future. It also allows us to consider the particular needs that people in our communities might have, and how we can plan for the type of homes they are likely to require now and in the future.

There are two surveys on housing need being conducted. One is on general housing need and one is on housing need experienced by organisations.

General Housing Need Survey

If you are a private individual, we would welcome a response from you to the General Housing Need Survey

Housing Need Survey for Organisations

If you are an organisation and the work you do is being impacted by the housing market in the Outer Hebrides, we would welcome a response from you to the Housing Need Survey for Organisations.

Both surveys can also be found on the Housing Services Feedback webpage.

The surveys are open for responses from Tuesday, 30 August 2022 until 5pm on Monday, 19 September 2022
