Hospitality COVID Rules
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has emphasised that, in line with Scottish Government guidance, more than one household may meet in Western Isles pubs or restaurants if the required social distancing is observed.
However, new Scottish Government Regulations announced by the First Minister yesterday and coming into effect from Friday 14th August, state that no more than three households may sit together, observing social distancing of 1m or 2m depending on the terms of the permission granted.
A spokesperson said: “If there are different households sitting together, each household must be socially distanced at either 2m or 1m apart depending on the permission under which the premises are operating. Only people from one household can sit together without the required distancing. This is a very difficult time for the Licensed Trade and we should all help by co-operating and observing the regulations as laid down by Government, as has overwhelmingly been the case so far throughout our islands.”
Licensees must also ensure that customers’ details are recorded and that menus are either single use or cleaned down appropriately. The First Minister’s statement from yesterday can be read on the Scottish Government (Opens in a new window or downloads a file) website.
