Western Isles Development Trust - New Small Grants Scheme

The Western Isles Development Trust (“WIDT”) currently invites applications from community groups for funding for projects with a focus on alleviating fuel poverty and promoting renewable energy.

Since April 2016 it has committed to almost £300,000 in grant payments and loan funding to promote these objectives.  Recent beneficiaries include: Kinloch Historical Society, Lewis; North Uist Development Company Trading Limited, North Uist; Garadh a Bagh a Tuath, Barra and the West Harris Trust, Harris.

The Trust has now established a new annual Small Grants Fund which is open to applications from 1 September 2019.  Applications are invited from community groups for a maximum of £2,000.00 in grant funding.  In order to be eligible the application must meet at least one of the WIDT’s objectives (as set out in its Articles of Association and published on the website) and show benefit to the community.  Once the fund has been expended in any year the fund will close until the following year.  The initial funding year runs from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020.

Full details of the new fund and application forms can be found at the website.
