Loss of Landlines - Grogarry

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has called on neighbours to look out for each other given the continuing unavailability of landline phone calls, including the 999 system, in the Grogarry area of South Uist.

Engineers are working to restore the system however a spokesperson for the Comhairle said: “Given the continuing unavailability of phone lines in the Grogarry area and the resultant loss of the 999 service we would ask that people look out for their neighbours, particularly the elderly or vulnerable.”

Mobile lines should be used where possible.
