Comhairle and HHP Host Construction Supplier Event
The supplier event will provide the opportunity for the Comhairle and Hebridean Housing Partnership to engage with the local construction supply chain and provide more information about the investment in new affordable housing planned through the Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP).
As a key part of the SHIP, the Integrated Joint Board, Hebridean Housing Partnership and the Comhairle are about to embark on a major partnership project which will include the construction of a 52 bed care home, 50 housing with extra care units and 62 affordable houses on a site in the Goathill area of Stornoway. The next stage of the process is to determine the procurement strategy for the construction works.
The supplier event being held in Stornoway will provide an opportunity for potential construction contractors and suppliers to find out more about the Strategic Housing Investment Programme and the Goathill project. Suppliers can give their views either at the event, through one to one meetings or by responding to the questionnaire which has been issued as part of a Prior Information Notice (Opens in a new window or downloads a file) published on Public Contracts Scotland.
Details of the event are as follows:
Thursday 8 March 2018
10:00am
Caladh Inn, 11 James St, Stornoway HS1 2QN
Speaking today Comhairle Leader Roddie Mackay stressed the importance of this event:
"The Partners are very interested in the views of the construction industry on how this project could be delivered and how the works might best be procured to deliver value for money and a significant positive impact for the islands. Although we have a tight timescale by which these works must be delivered there are real opportunities for the project to make a significant contribution to the local economy. I would urge contractors and suppliers to come along."
HHP Chairman, Norman Macleod, said:
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Comhairle to deliver this project. We look forward to hearing the views of the construction industry on how we can deliver new homes for the ambitious timescales that we have been set"
