Iolaire Visitor Centre Open Day and Feedback Survey

Residents of the Western Isles are being encouraged to fill in a short survey on the early proposals for a World Class centre which will tell the story of the Iolaire tragedy.
Businessman Stewart Graham has proposed building the multi-million pound visitor centre to mark the maritime disaster at Stornoway’s Number One pier and an Open Day is to be held In Stornoway Town Hall from 12 noon to 6pm tomorrow, Tuesday 27th February. There will also be an event for local businesses in the evening from 7.30pm to 9pm, also in the Town Hall which businesses with an interest are being encouraged to attend.
Stewart Graham said: "I hope local people and the business community will take the opportunity to come along to the Open Day and find out more about this important project which, 100 years after this most terrible tragedy, will provide a lasting legacy to the memory of the men who lost their lives.
I would also like to encourage local people and the business community to complete the feedback survey. It is vitally important that we gain as much feedback as possible from sections of the community to best inform how we take this important project forward.
We should expect that what we create will encourage people from all over the UK and further afield to make visits to the island to take in this visitor experience as part of an island visit. Not only would this be a lasting testament, but the Centre would provide a major, transformational, economic boost for the Islands.
We should all be proud of the project and how we tell the story. We should be proud of those who were lost and who survived."
