Extension to Pay and Display Car Parking in Stornoway Town Centre

Members of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will be asked to approve the standardisation of a two hour “no return” period across all Pay and Display car parks in Stornoway Town Centre, at a meeting of the committee on Wednesday 14^th June.

In March 2016 the Comhairle agreed to an initial phase of extending Pay and Display Parking in Stornoway Town Centre which included:

Extending chargeable parking to the former Fisherman’s Car Park and to the areas of South Beach adjacent to the Star Inn and the Caledonian Hotel; and

Retention of non-chargeable parking provision at No 1 Pier.

No objections were received through the public consultation which ended in May 2017.

If the proposals receive final approval from Committee, the implementation phase will follow shortly thereafter, with the intention that all necessary infrastructure be in place by August 2017.
