The Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Event took place at Perceval Square, Stornoway, at 10am this morning.
Comhairle Convener, Cllr Norman A MacDonald, said: “It is very important that we remember those who are currently serving in the forces and those who gave their lives for the freedom that we enjoy today and I would like to thank everyone who was present at the ceremony. I’d also like to particularly thank The Nicolson Institute Pipers who opened and closed the ceremony, The Air Training Corps and the Lewis Branch of the Royal British Legion for organising the event.”
There will be another event in Perceval Square next Monday (26th June) evening at 6pm. The Lewis Pipe Band will be present to play and there will also be a salute and the lowering of the flag.
