School Enrolment

Information for Parents/Carers

This online enrolment form is for enrolling pupils into P1 or S1 only, for the school session starting in August 2023. For all other enrolments, please contact the school directly.

Enrolment for the new academic session 2023-24 is now open for children and young people due to enter P1 and S1 from 17th August 2023.

Please read in full the guidance notes provided below and then complete all relevant sections of this form to ensure that all required information is provided, including the child’s birth certificate that is needed to confirm identification.

Please make sure that the details provided on this form exactly match that recorded on your child’s birth certificate, namely:

  • Child’s full name as it appears on the certificate.
  • Date of Birth.
  • Names of all parents recorded on the certificate.

Schools will be happy to discuss enrolment and answer any questions parents have prior to completion of the enrolment process.

If you have any issues accessing or completing this form, please contact the relevant school office directly and they will be able to support you in completing the online form or can provide an alternative paper form, if required.

Eligibility for Primary One Enrolment 2023

Children who will be four years of age by 28th February 2023 are eligible for P1 enrolment.  Parents and carers who wish to enrol their child(ren) are requested to do so from Monday 30th January 2023. Enrolment for P1 should be completed by Friday 17th February 2023.

Deferred Entry to Primary One

Changes to enrolment rules that come into effect from August 2023 mean that any child that is not yet five years of age by the start of the term on 17th August 2023 will be eligible to apply to defer entry to P1 and receive another year of funded pre-school provision, then subsequently enrol next year for P1 for August 2024.

If parents/carers are considering deferral of a child’s entry to school, they should discuss this with the child’s early years provider in the first instance to allow consideration of the child’s readiness to enrol in school. A deferred entry application form must then be completed to initiate the deferral process. Forms can be requested from your early years setting.

Eligibility for Secondary One Enrolment 2023

An S1 enrolment form must be completed no later than Friday 17th February 2023 for all children that will be completing P7 by 30th June 2023.  Parents should enrol their child for their designated secondary school using this form from Monday 30th January 2023 onwards.

Placing Request: Out of Catchment Enrolment

Parents who wish to apply for a place at a school other than their local catchment school should complete this form but must also complete and submit a Placing Request Online Form  no later than 1 March 2023, indicating the name of the school that they wish their child to attend. Any out-of-catchment enrolments submitted via this form will continue to be considered provisional until receipt of an approved placing request application. If you are unsure about the catchment area of your proposed school, please contact the school office and they will be able to advise.

Information about the rights of parents to make a placing request and on appeals against a decision of the Comhairle to refuse a request, together with any other information, may be obtained by calling 01851 600 501.

All enquiries in connection with admissions and placing requests should be made to 01851 600 501.
