Western Isles Learning Shop

The Western Isles Learning Shop is an adult literacies centre run by the Adult Learning and Employability section of the Education & Children’s Services department.

The Learning Shop is based in the Town Hall in Stornoway and offers a comfortable environment for adults looking to refresh their core skills as well as learning and developing new skills.

Learning is tailored to the individual’s needs and progress is measured by how much it has changed the learner’s life.

The learner has equal input with tutors in to the pace, style and pattern of learning.

Learning can be undertaken one-to-one, in groups or self-directed during drop-in sessions and there are a range of learning options – these include literacy and numeracy support, lifeskills work and English as a second language (ESOL). The Learning Shop also offers SQA accreditation options at SCQF Level 3 and Level 4.
