Short-term let Licensing Scheme

The Scottish Government introduced mandatory licensing for short-term lets earlier this year requiring local authorities to establish licensing schemes by 1 October 2022.

The Comhairle’s Short-term let licensing scheme is nearly finalised and will be going live on 1 October 2022.  Detailed information about the scheme is available on the Comhairle website and short-term let operators are being asked to familiarise themselves with this information and the requirements of the scheme.  New operators starting after 1 October 2022 must be licensed before they can offer short-term lets, although existing operators can carry on but will need to apply for a licence from 1 October 2022 until 1 April 2023

The Comhairle is holding several webinars for hosts and operators who operate short-term lets in the Outer Hebrides.  To get further information on the scheme or to book a place on a webinar please visit www.cne-siar.gov.uk/stl.
