Pool Maintenance at Ionad Spors Leòdhais
Ionad Spors Leòdhais opened in December 2004 and it’s hard to believe that the ‘new’ Sports Centre turns 18 this year. We are very fortunate to have a moveable floor in the pool which has been a fantastic addition to the services we can offer. It allows us to have activities in the appropriate water depth – everything from Aquafit classes and swimming lessons to Parent and Toddler sessions.
The hydraulic equipment that moves the floor up and down is now at the end of its serviceable life and needs to be replaced. This means that we have to drain the pool, undertake the work and then refill the pool. This has to be done in a very controlled way to minimise the risk of any damage to the pool itself – sadly, you can’t just pull the plug out and fill it up again like a bath! In total the works are likely to take about three weeks and the pool will be out of action during this period.
We apologise for the disruption that this essential work will cause but would like to remind customers with Slàinte Mhath memberships that they are able to make use of all other ISL facilities and our other sites at no additional cost, such as the pools at Lionel, Shawbost and Harris. If you are a regular pool user and would like to stay active in this period and have not had a gym induction, please get in touch with us at isladminteam@cne-siar.gov.uk and we can make arrangements for this to be done at a convenient time for you.
More detailed information around dates will follow in due course.
