Arnish Update

A meeting took place yesterday to discuss the future of Arnish, involving Scottish Government, members of parliament and representatives from Fife and the Western Isles. The Comhairle has requested a follow up meeting with the Scottish Government and HIE and will look to try and free up the Arnish site for new operators.

Leader of CNES, Roddie Mackay, said: “There has been interest from new operators and it seems that the Barnes/BiFab era is coming to an end. There are also significant concerns over a lack of maintenance of the excellent equipment at Arnish.

Following these concerns we feel it is important to separate the asset from its operator as soon as possible and to look at new operators who will ideally look to tie in with ambitious plans for on and offshore wind around these islands.”
