Trading Standards Warning

Trading Standards have been made aware of Doorstep sellers currently operating in the islands.

The Western Isles are currently under Level 1 Restrictions for the control of the  Covid 19 virus , and the current Scottish Government advice is that traders from other areas, where there are higher restrictions, should only be undertaking essential work in peoples’ homes. Clearly doorstep sales are not essential and therefore sellers do not need to visit homes on the islands.

Trading Standards advise that residents should not allow doorstep sellers into their homes.

We advise that residents should continue to display No Doorstep callers stickers. Traders who disregard the signage may be committing an offence and should be reported to ourselves.
