The Lewis and Harris Sports Council has been crowned the Scottish Clubsport Sport Council of the year 2019/20.

The Lewis and Harris Sports Council is an association of local sports clubs and organisations which work in partnership with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, and Western Isles Health Board to foster and develop sport in Lewis and Harris.

Cllr Charlie Nicolson, CNES representative on the Lewis and Harris Sports Council stated,

“This is an excellent achievement by the Lewis and Harris Sports Council. This shows the quality and professionalism of the Sporting Clubs in Lewis and Harris and that of coaches, volunteers and Sport and Health Staff in promoting sport for all ethos in these Islands and further afield. Well done to all involved in achieving this Prestigious Award “

Community Sports Development Officer (Lewis & Harris), Steven Munro said,

“It was unexpected but a great honour to accept the Scottish Clubsport Sport Council of the year 2019/20 on behalf of the Lewis and Harris Sports Council.

The sports council is a team effort and without the support of the ex-committee, member clubs, coaches and athletes/players gaining this award would not have been achieved. Plus, a big thanks must also go to our funders Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Western Isles Health board and the Western Isle Development Trust.”
