Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is now on Instagram!
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has established a new Instagram page to complement the active Facebook and Twitter pages which have very good levels of engagement from the public.
Up until December the total reach for the year on Facebook was 153, 343 which is an excellent number for a local authority. “Reach” means the number of people who saw the content. The Comhairle has just under 10,000 Twitter followers, regularly tweets in Gaelic and during elections is the only Scottish local authority to tweet bi-llingually as well as carrying the results live on Facebook.
The Comhairle recognises the importance of communicating effectively with members of the public, and the new Instagram account will add to that. You can find the Comhairle at www.instagram.com/cne_siar/ and you can follow us to keep up to date.
A spokesperson for the Comhairle’s Communication Team said, “It was important for us to establish the Comhairle on Instagram alongside other local authorities in Scotland. It gives us another platform to communicate with members of the public, staff and other stakeholders, and we recognise that many people are now spending a lot more time on Instagram. The Western Isles is a terrific place for people to visit and we would encourage members of the public to tag us in photos connected to the Western Isles using @cne_siar and #WIplace2b and we will be sharing as many of these as possible.”
There is also a competition running in partnership with the Lewis Sports Centre for a year’s free Slàinte Mhath Scheme membership worth £225. You will find details on how to enter on the Instagram page.
