Christmas Concert

On Monday 21 December at 7pm the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Facebook Page will host the Nicolson Institute’s online Christmas Concert.

The concert features performances from Nicolson Institute pupils including Gaelic and English festive readings, solo songs, a Gaelic carol choir and a previously unseen piece from the Lewis and Harris Wind Band, as part of a recording they made just before lockdown.

All tracks were recorded in line with COVID guidelines, which meant that vocal tracks had to be recorded at home.

Principal Teacher of Music at the Nicolson Institute Avril Allen said, “With the school’s conventional Christmas celebrations cancelled this year, pupils and staff have enjoyed being able to share in some Christmas cheer. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in putting this concert together, I hope you all enjoy watching the final product on Monday evening.”

Monday nights concert kicks off a trio of Festive Musical Performances on the Comhairle Facebook Page. Following on from the Nicolson Institute’s Christmas Concert, a selection of local artists will take over the Comhairle Page on Christmas Eve for a Christmas Ceìlidh and on New Year’s Day Willie Campbell, Calum Martin and Iain “Costello” Maciver will host a New Year Celebration.
