Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has welcomed the news that Loganair is converting two aircraft into air ambulances to help fight the Coronavirus. These air ambulances will be available to air lift patients to mainland based hospitals to receive appropriate healthcare when seriously ill.

Councillor Uisdean Robertson, Chairman of Transportation and Infrastructure said:

“I very much welcome Loganair’s continuing commitment to the lifeline services they provide for Islands during what is an extremely challenging time. In addition to their commercial responsibilities, they fulfil an important social role on our islands and have stepped up to support us throughout this crisis.

“It is very welcome that because of Loganair’s support there will be an additional air ambulance service available from this Friday and a second air ambulance available within the next week. These services will provide vital emergency transport if required for those who require it."
