Trading Standards Warning

Trading Standards are asking residents in the Islands to be wary of any telephone calls purporting to be from their bank.  

A spokesperson said: “We have received reports that the scammers call claiming that there has been suspicious activity on your account and to confirm their bank details.  Since scammers have  been known to keep your telephone line open without your knowledge, if you use your phone immediately after the call, you may be unintentionally still talking to the scammers.  Our advice is to end the call and to either use a different phone, such as a mobile before contacting your bank.”
