Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has warmly welcomed the announcement from Loganair that it is to reintroduce the morning transport of daily newspapers to Benbecula.
Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Cllr Uisdean Robertson, said: “This announcement is very good news indeed for the Uist community. A similar move was made last year with papers arriving in Stornoway earlier in the morning and this is another good example of Loganair supporting the communities that it serves. We look forward to continuing to work together in the future.“
Weekday services leaving Glasgow will depart at 07.15 carrying the island’s supply of newspapers, landing one hour later before being distributed to newsagent and shops throughout Uist. Residents will be able to conveniently purchase newspapers by mid-morning instead of waiting for the ferry arrival in the afternoon or early evening.
