National Secondary Schools’ Gaelic Debate 2017 – Semi-finals and Final

The semi-finals of the National Secondary Schools’ Gaelic Debate will take place next Tuesday, 28 November.  They will be held at the BBC’s Pacific Quay building in Glasgow, starting at 6.30pm.  The first semi-final will see the Glasgow Gaelic School battle against Lochaber High School, when their topic of debate will be, “Too much recognition is given to sport in this country”.  In the second debate of the evening the Nicolson Institute A will be against Gairloch High School when their topic of debate will be, “We have to assume that detailed information about us keeps us safe and healthy in today’s world”.  The two winning teams will meet in the Final, at The Scottish Parliament the following evening, 29 November where they will debate, “Glasgow should be named as Scotland’s capital city instead of Edinburgh”. 

The semi-finals will be live on the Debate’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/deasbadbtalba from 6:30pm on Tuesday. The final will be live on the Facebook page and will also be broadcasted live on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal.

Both events are open to the public, but, because of security at The Scottish Parliament, anybody intending to attend the Final at The Parliament must notify us before-hand,  this should be done by e-mail to oifis@cnag.org
