Update on Services - Severe Weather Disruption

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice which is valid from 05:00 on Friday 8th until 18:00 on Saturday 9th December 2017.

It is intended that all schools and nurseries in Western Isles will be open tomorrow, Friday 8th December. However, local decisions will be made in the morning and the public should keep a close eye on the various Comhairle communication channels.

All services, including buses, are also expected to be running as normal tomorrow. Passengers throughout the Western Isles are advised to contact bus operators directly using the contact phone numbers with the Current Public Bus tTmetables

Travel disruption is likely and local conditions will vary. The public are advised to travel with care.

Roads will be treated on a priority basis in line with the Comhairle’s Gritting Policy

The Comhairle would ask family, neighbours and friends living nearby to assist and support elderly and vulnerable people.

The Comhairle will continue to monitor the weather situation and its impact upon services.
