Sport Activities

Mini Kickers

Sessions introduce 3 - 4 year olds to basic co-ordination and movement skills using the sport of football.  Please note that all 4 olds attending must not already be in school.  Participants must bring suitable indoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Basic Sports

Sessions introduce Primary 1 to 2 pupils to basic sports, in a safe fun eniroment.  Participants must bring suitable indoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Multi Sports

Sessions encourage Primary 3 and 4 pupils to develop a range of different team and individual sports in a fun safe environment.  Participants must bring suitable indoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Football

Sessions encourage Primary 5 to 7 pupils to develop their football skills, using specific drills and small sided games in a fun safe environment.  Participants must bring suitable indoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Cycling Introduction Festival

Sessions are open to Primary 4 and 5 pupils who are able to cycle on flat surfaces, use your gears and brakes confidently, and want a basic introduction to off road cycling in the Castle grounds.  Must be able to cycle minimum 2 miles. Participants must bring suitable outdoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Cycling Festival

Sessions are open to Primary 4 and 5 pupils who are competent at using your gears and brakes on the up and downhill off road parts of the Lews Castle grounds.  Must be able to cycle minimum 2 miles.  Participants must bring suitable outdoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Athletics/Basketball

Sessions encourage Primary 5 to 7 pupils to develop their Athletics skills, as well as Basketball skills using specific drills, relays and small sided games in a fun safe environment.  Participants must bring suitable indoor kit, light snack and a drink.

Outdoor Actvities

Start Sailing

Please note that these sessions maybe cancelled at the last minute in the case of poor weather conditions.

The Start Sailing Courses are the perfect opportunity to get your children interested in sailing.  This course will introduce youngsters to launching and recovery, steering, parts of the boat and general basic sailing.

Indoor Climbing

Kids are natural climbers, so why not get them involved in our fun climbing classes. Sessions will help develop your child’s co-ordination and climbing skills in a safe environment under the watch full eye of a Sport & Health instructor.

Trail Cycling

If your child is a keen cyclist, then this activity is perfect.  Our qualified outdoor instructors will take them around the Lews Castle Grounds to develop their mountain biking skills and test out some of the more advanced bike trails.

Woodland Explorers

These activities are a great way to get your children and young people to be active and outside.  They will be introduced to some very basic bush craft skills and our instructors will help them learn more about the great outdoors. These will be run through the medium of Gaelic and are being run in partnership with Comunn na Gaidhlig (Opens in a new window or downloads a file).

Start Mountain Biking

Sessions are open to Primary 7 – S2 pupils, this session is aimed at developing from the trail cycling sessions and is not for beginners so anyone taking part must have ridden on the Motiv8 trail cycling sessions in the summer. Our qualified outdoor instructors will take them around the Lews Castle Grounds tracks.
