Library and Information Service Update
We are happy to announce that all libraries are now open for limited browsing. We are still open reduced hours, and will only be able to accommodate a few people in each library at a time, so please do be patient.
- PCs are available for use at most libraries – these must be booked in advance
- Study tables are also available at various libraries in one-hour slots – please book in advance.
We are still operating our Connect & Collect service, so please do complete the online form, or get in touch if you would like to order any items.
In line with Scottish Government regulations, libraries in the Western Isles aim to follow a phased reopening process to ensure the safety of all our patrons and staff. Measures have been put in place to allow for a gradual return to our normal service as soon as possible and in line with national guidance.

Library Events
We are slowly reintroducing physical library events, groups and activities. Follow us on social media @wilibraries to keep up to date with our latest news and online activities and competitions.
No Lockdown Overdues or Rental Charges
If you have borrowed an item from us, but are unable to return it due to the current UK government guidelines in place, please don’t worry – you shouldn’t get any overdue notices. If you do, just ignore them! We won’t be charging any overdue rental charges on DVDs and CDs borrowed during lockdown either. However, we are reinstating DVD's and CDs rental charges from July 2021.
Library Card Number and PIN Code
To access most of our online service you will require your library card number and PIN code. Your library card number can be found on the back of your library card, beneath the barcode. The PIN should have been set to the last 4 digits of your card number. If this doesn’t work, you can request to reset your password/PIN. Or, you can get in touch with us for help!
