TTRO Sandwick Road – Temporary Road Closure
STATEMENT OF REASONS
It is proposed to close a section of Sandwick Road in Stornoway between 6.00pm and 9:30pm on Tuesday 10th September 2024.
The reason for this temporary road closure is in the interests of road safety during a safety exercise at the Scottish Gas Network (SGN) depot on Sandwick Road. The exercise will test both the on-site and off-site emergency plans, as required under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015.
The section of road closed is: SANDWICK ROAD – from the Smith Avenue/Island Road roundabout to the Seaforth Road junction, a distance of 475M or thereby.
Access will be available to adjacent premises, as well as there being restricted and managed access for pedestrians. Traffic will be held up at any junctions or accesses to the section of road affected by the closure. The Point to Stornoway bus service will be diverted via Seaforth Road during the closure.
