Bulky Household Waste Collections

New Charges and Change of Contact Number

The current charge for a Bulky Household Waste collection is as stated in the 'Special Collection / Household Waste' section of the Fees and Charges (Cleansing) page.

To make a booking, please call 01851 600 502.  For the convenience of householders we have introduced a telephone payment system using Debit or Credit cards.   Alternatively householders may call in at any of the Comhairle Customer Service Access Points where they will take details of your collection and take payment by cash or card.

Alternative Arrangements

Household Recycling Centres

If the householder is able to arrange for Bulky Household Waste to be independently transferred to one of the Comhairle’s Household Recycling Centres listed below; there is no charge.

• Habost, Ness
• Creed Park, Stornoway
• Urgha, Tarbert
• Rueval, Benbecula
• Garrygall, Barra

Community Skips

Community Skips can still be used to deposit the majority of bulky household items.  If you are unsure what can be put into a Community skip, please telephone Zero Waste Western Isles on 01851 709900 for advice. 

Community skips must not be used to deposit Commercial Waste.

Commercial Customers

Commercial customers should continue to contact the Cleansing Section directly.
